However, some of the snacks you eat before bedtime can also affect your sleep and dreams a great deal. Below are five types of foods that could be the cause of your nightmares.

Chocolates









Hello chocolate lovers! Am sorry but your favorite buddy could be the reason why your sleep is disrupted. Also, it could be the cause of your violent nightmares.

Chocolates are high in caffeine and sugar. According to various studies, caffeine decreases the ability to sleep. On the other hand, the sweet treat contains an alkaloid that increases your heart rate leaving you awake during the night.

We both know that chocolates are delicious and very addictive. However, we should try and take them as an afternoon treat rather than a night snack.

Pasta







Pasta contains a high amount of carbohydrates which the body converts into sugar. As indicated earlier, sugar interrupts your sleep patterns. Therefore, don’t be surprised if you took some pasta during dinner and you are trying to rest your eyes in vain.

A delicious pasta meal at your favorite hotel is still a great idea. However, scheduling dinner some hours before bed is even better. Well, to avoid the nightmares!

Cheese







Cheese rank at the top of the list of food that can cause nightmares.  In a study released by British Cheese Board in 2005 to expose the tale that cheese causes bad dreams, it was proven that cheese is actually connected to terrible dreams.

Well, now you have a reason to ditch that huge late-night snack full of cheese if you ask me! If you are craving anything creamy, go for a non-dairy snack. A yellow or brown banana maybe?

Fries/ Chips







Potato chips are unhealthy greasy foods as they contain high amounts of calories. Having chips for supper can make you have less soothing sleep. After all, fatty snacks can cause a disruption in your digestive tract. Therefore, making your sleep unbearable.

Making it a habit to take a healthier snack before going to bed can increase your quality of sleep and minimize bad dreams. Also, forgetting about the snack during the night is not a bad idea either.

Pizza







Pizza is a combination of carbohydrates, processed meat, spicy sauces, and cheese. Tasty, huh! Well, no one is against your favorite nighttime snack. Most of the ingredients in pizza when digested are a source of upsetting dreams.

If you have been a victim of bad dreams lately, stop blaming the scary movie you watched last weekend! Check what you are eating minutes before bedtime. You might get the culprit in no time.
